‘Kamakan The Vampire Slug’ is an extraordinary comedy/horror adventure tale. A slime-filled, rip-roaring monsterfest told in rhyme. This action-packed story tells of the dastardly deeds of the hideous vampire slug Kamakan and of his flight from a monster-filled hole in Peru in search of his favourite breakfast – people!  

Kamakan kidnaps two children and takes them back to his Peruvian cave. The adventure details the children’s bid to escape. 

It is fast-paced and funny with plenty of goo and ickiness to keep kids entertained. Grown-ups love Kamakan too as it's so much fun to read aloud. 

The rhymes chop and alter to give the story pace and excitement. 

The book is beautifully illustrated by Shaun B. King and is packed with terrific pictures of monsters and various scenes from the story.

‘Kamakan The Vampire Slug’  won the Undiscovered Authors National Fiction Final for Wales 2005. 

The story is very funny, but younger children may find it a little bit scary. In general though I've found it suitable for older 6-years to 11-years.
